Where Our Coatings Are Used

Use Cases

Tractors

Driveline shafts and U-joints, hydraulic cylinder rods and fittings, 3-point hitch hardware, frame and cab bolts, engine-compartment fasteners, brackets, and operator-station hardware.

Tillage Equipment

Toolbar fasteners, hitch components, frame brackets, pin-and-joint hardware, and wear-point retainers across plows, cultivators, discs, and harrows.

Combines and Harvesters

Header drive shafts, conveyor and elevator hardware, bearing housings, sheet-metal panels, auger flighting hardware, and rotor and screen-frame mounts.

Sprayers and Applicators

Boom hardware, spray-bar fittings, tank mounts, and hose and fitting hardware exposed to chemical attack.

Construction Equipment

Boom and arm pivot retainers, bucket pin and bushing hardware, hydraulic cylinder rods, track adjuster components, and cab and ROPS fasteners.

What These Finishes Do

Key Benefits

Corrosion Resistance

Protection against the field environment: moisture, soil acidity, road salt during winter transport, and the nitrogen-based fertilizers and ammonia exposure that destroy unprotected steel.

Wear Resistance

For components that take constant vibration and abrasion from soil and dust over long duty cycles.

Lubricity

Holds installation torque consistent on threaded fasteners and reduces friction at sliding contact points.

Hydrogen Embrittlement Control

In-house relief baking on the high-strength steel fasteners and pins that hold heavy assemblies together.

OEM Compliance

Meets the long salt-spray and cyclic-corrosion specifications major equipment OEMs publish, including 240, 480, and 720+ hour ASTM B117 requirements that have become standard for under-vehicle hardware.

Environmental Compliance

Trivalent chromium passivation and fully hexavalent-chromium-free finishes that meet RoHS, REACH, and end-of-life vehicle directives.

Protective Coatings for Agriculture and Construction Machinery

At Coatings Management Corporation, we finish the parts that keep heavy equipment running through the seasons. From a combine working a wet October field to a tractor moving over salted roads in February, every plated component on a piece of agricultural or construction machinery has the same job: to outlast the operating environment and outlast the warranty period.

For more than 65 years, our four facilities have supplied OEM-grade zinc, zinc-nickel, zinc-iron, electroless nickel, tin, and phosphate finishes to the manufacturers that build agricultural and construction equipment. We run trivalent-chromium-free, RoHS-compliant chemistries that meet the salt spray, cyclic corrosion, and adhesion specifications the major equipment OEMs publish, including the demanding 480-hour and 720-hour ASTM B117 requirements that have become standard for under-vehicle hardware. Where high-strength fasteners are in play, we provide full hydrogen embrittlement relief baking in-house, scheduled within the time windows that ASTM F1940 and OEM specifications require.

Rack and barrel processing are both available across our locations, with capacity to absorb the seasonal demand swings that come with the planting, growing, and harvest cycles your customers depend on. Send us a drawing or a specification and we’ll match the right process to the part, the operating environment, and the standard you need to meet.
